About Lena Coates

Lena is the current Vice-President of the Kastellorizian Association, the previous Company Secretary, a long-standing Committee member, and has 30 years of involvement as an active member. Lena has a proud Italian heritage. She became an active member of the Association through marriage. In honour of her mother-in-law Sylvia Coates who held senior positions on the KAV Committee and KAV Seniors, she is proud to continue her legacy in her memory. Lena was instrumental in bringing the first Kazzie of the Year Gala event to the Association and managed the next four. She produces the monthly digital series Kazzie Connect and is part of a team that brought together the first International Women’s Day event with a guest speaker.  Lena volunteers to  “Cabrini Italians of Melbourne” through the Cabrini Foundation.

Professionally, Lena brings her corporate experience of over 30 years to the organization. Lena’s held senior management roles with well-known global corporates, including, PriceWaterhouse, Sportscraft Group of Companies, BP Oil, Council of Adult Education, FRG Executive Search, and Financial Executive Women. Within these organizations, Lena has a deep network of relationships. 

Lena is the owner of Lena Coates and Associates, a Career and Life Coaching firm specialising in one-on-one coaching, career guidance, and eliminating life/career roadblocks. Lena recognized a need for high-touch coaching from someone who has “walked the talk”. 

To support her extensive practical knowledge, Lena graduated from RMIT University with a qualification in Business. She is a member of the International Association of Professional Career Coaches (IAPCC), the International Coaching Federation (ICF), a Coach Masters Academy graduate in Transformational Coaching, and trained in the Bowen Interview Technique. Lena abides by the ICF’s Code of Ethics. As a qualified Personal Trainer (Cert 3 and 4), she includes mindfulness and wellness in her coaching. 

Lena was recently featured in Il Globo newspaper for her work in professional coaching and has provided editorial for IFA Magazine and webinars for ALTO (Australian-Italian Leaders of Tomorrow). She also speaks to corporates and educational bodies on “The Secrets of a Head-hunter”, “Navigating the Career Maze,”  and “Why Coaching Matters.”
